Demolition work has officially begun at Bootle Strand, marking the first major step in Sefton Council's regeneration project to reshape the town centre.

Carried out by VINCI Construction UK, the works are part of Phase One of the Bootle Strand Transformation Project, which aims to create a more accessible, vibrant, and inclusive space for residents, visitors, and businesses.

The Strand has long been a key part of Bootle's identity and economy. Now, it stands at the heart of a broader vision to revitalise the area through modern retail and leisure units, flexible business accommodation, upgraded transport links, and enhanced public and cultural spaces.


On-site demolition and initial construction will continue through to December 2025. Throughout this period, businesses in and around the Strand will remain open, ensuring continued service and support for the local economy.

The Bootle Strand Transformation Project is backed by a £20 million grant from central government, with additional investment from the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority. Over £2 million has already been allocated to support the successful Salt and Tar events space, an early milestone that has helped bring activity, culture, and economic energy back into the town centre.
