ProBoard Timber Highlights American Tulipwood as the Go-To Hardwood for Interior Construction Fit-Out

Essex-based importer makes 18mm Tulipwood available with no minimum order and same-day dispatch

ProBoard Timber, the UK timber importer and distributor with over 35 years of industry experience, is drawing attention to American Tulipwood as one of the most practical and cost-effective hardwoods available to contractors and interior fit-out specialists working on today's residential and commercial build programmes.

With the UK Government's Timber in Construction Roadmap placing renewed emphasis on wood-based materials across the built environment, ProBoard Timber says demand for versatile, workable hardwoods like Tulipwood is rising across the joinery and interior specification sectors.

American Tulipwood, known in the trade also as 'Yellow Poplar' is widely used for painted kitchen cabinetry, panelling, and furniture framing. Its fine, consistent grain, exceptional dimensional stability, and superior paint-holding properties make it a benchmark material for paint-grade interior joinery, particularly in high-specification residential and commercial fit-out.

Guy Atherton, founder of ProBoard Timber (GA Imports), said: "Tulipwood is one of those timbers that just works. It machines beautifully, takes paint like a dream, and it's strong for its weight. Contractors and kitchen manufacturers have been specifying it for years for good reason. It delivers a premium finish at a sensible price."

ProBoard Timber's 9mm,18mm, 24mm Tulipwood stock is available across a range of board sizes and is offered through the company's pick-a-piece service, which allows trade customers to order without minimum quantity requirements, with same-day dispatch nationwide from its Essex distribution facility.

The timber is natural grade, which Atherton says is a positive for many buyers: "You get a bit more colour variation, some boards will show olive or green tones in the heartwood alongside creamy sapwood. A lot of specifiers and makers actually prefer that. It gives the material character, and once it's painted it makes no difference at all."

ProBoard Timber supplies timber merchants, furniture manufacturers, kitchen and staircase manufacturers across the UK, sourcing from sustainably managed forests in North America.
