Hoardings are being installed this week around the site in Huyton Village Centre as plans advance for a new community facility that will include the relocated Huyton Library.
The former B&M unit on Cavendish Walk will be transformed with a new library on the ground floor. Knowsley Works, which provides employment and training support to local residents, will move into the first floor, alongside temporary office space.
The library will feature engaging areas for children and adults and retain core services including a wide range of books, help to get online, access to PCs, photocopying and printing. Existing activities and groups will also transfer to the new venue.
The temporary office space will support Knowsley Council's relocation as part of the wider redevelopment of the current council headquarters site, which will deliver new homes and public spaces. A future phase is planned to provide additional community spaces within the building, aligned with local needs.
Alongside the internal refurbishment, the proposals include minor external alterations to refresh the building’s appearance and enhance the village centre. The installation of hoardings this week signals the next stage of the scheme.
The first phase of works, including the opening of Huyton Library, is expected to open next year.
