Mace has completed building work on premium British vehicle manufacturer Gordon Murray Automotive's (GMA's) new global Group HQ at Higham's Park, located in Windlesham, Surrey.
The new campus will be the Group's global HQ – home to a purpose-built 4,300 square metre Vehicle Production Centre, Customer Excellence Centre, Aftersales and Bespoke Centre, and the Gordon Murray Heritage collection.
The site also features a specially-designed Vehicle Dynamics Test Road, used for final validation and pre-delivery checks of new GMA supercars.
Mace was selected as delivery partner for the development of the campus. This included the site wide infrastructure, roadways, parking areas, swales, lake, landscaping and a ‘test road’ for pre-delivery testing.
A double height space houses an assembly area which is serviced by in floor trenches, allowing rapid reconfiguration to suit the different requirements of each car production.
A bespoke car lift was installed to transport cars from the pre-delivery and aftersales area to the 1st floor customer handover display area, with heritage areas including a selection of Professor Gordon Murray’s influential heritage collection.
The construction project embraced sustainability throughout, including the reduction in diesel usage and using HVO alternative fuel.
When planning the works to convert the meadow lands, careful sequencing minimised the impact to the neighbourhood, local wildlife and ecology.
Stewart Ward, Managing Director for Mace Fitout & Retrofit, said: "We are thrilled to have supported the creation of such a unique and visionary project. Working closely alongside Gordon Murray’s project team, we have delivered industry leading quality in service, construction and fit out at the new, state-of-the-art headquarters."
