Powerday has announced the appointment of John O'Dwyer.
A highly experienced environmental management professional with a strong background in the housebuilding sector, John will be instrumental in driving the company's wider sustainability goals.
Having previously worked at Telford Homes, Vinci, McGee and Murphy Group, John brings over eighteen years of cross-sector experience within the built environment to his new role as Associate Director – Environmental Sustainability.
Prior to joining Powerday, he was Head of Sustainability at Telford Homes for over three years, where he was instrumental in developing corporate sustainability strategies, implementing decarbonisation pathways and authoring award-winning sustainability reports. John is a chartered sustainability expert and a full member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA).
John's primary focus will be driving Powerday's overarching sustainability strategy, ensuring the company maintains its market-leading position when it comes to delivering responsible and sustainable waste management services across London. As part of this, he will be looking at innovative ways to continue minimising Scope 1 and 2 emissions from its vehicles and 8 facilities across the Capital, as well as reducing Scope 3 emissions from its supply chain.
Edward Crossan, CEO of Powerday, commented on the appointment: "We are delighted to welcome John to the Powerday team. His extensive experience and deep understanding of sustainability within the built environment will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen our commitment to environmental responsibility and innovation. John brings a fresh perspective and a proven track record of driving industry-recognised sustainability strategies, which will be crucial in helping us contribute to a more sustainable future with our clients."
John O'Dwyer, Associate Director – Environmental Sustainability at Powerday, added: "I'm excited to be joining such a forward-thinking business which clearly recognises the vital role the waste management sector plays in progressing towards a decarbonised society.
