Yorkshire Water is set to launch a £5.8m programme to modernise the clean water network serving communities around Goole, improving the resilience and reliability of supplies for customers.
The scheme will see 18km of clean water mains renewed across Swinefleet, Adlingfleet, Garthorpe, Reedness, Ousefleet, Whitgift and Fockerby, areas that have previously experienced bursts. The investment is designed to reduce leakage, limit future bursts and secure a dependable water supply for the long term.
Nichola Fairbairn, project manager at Yorkshire Water, said: "This mains replacement work is part of our largest ever investment programme of £8.3bn to strengthen infrastructure and improve services for our customers.
"Our contract partners, United Infrastructure, are due to start work on Monday 13 July on Low Street, Swinefleet. We've worked closely with the local highways team to plan our rolling programme of work and keep disruption to a minimum."
For safety reasons, activity in all villages will operate under traffic management, and the overall project is expected to complete by the end of December 2027.
Nichola continued: "We will be working as quickly as possible to complete these important upgrades in and around Goole and Swinefleet villages. We would like to thank everyone in the area for their patience whilst we carry out this mains replacement work."
