Costain has won a further three-year extension to its role as Managed Service Provider (MSP) for United Utilities, confirming a partnership that began in 2019 will now run to the full ten-year term.
Over the next three years, Costain will continue supporting delivery of the AMP8 capital maintenance programme.
Under the MSP framework, Costain manages and delivers a large volume of capital maintenance projects across water, wastewater and bioresource operations throughout United Utilities' North West region, including a reactive, round-the-clock maintenance service at sites across the network.
Costain will continue to deploy multi-disciplinary engineering and construction expertise, asset optimisation, project management and procurement capabilities. Drawing on its water sector experience, the company will provide an integrated service spanning replacement, refurbishment and asset upgrades.
To date, a team of more than 120 Costain professionals and engineers has helped grow a multi-disciplined supply chain to deliver over 900 capital maintenance projects and about 9,000 responsive maintenance activities. The partnership has enabled United Utilities to meet more than 160 key regulatory commitments ahead of schedule while maintaining strong safety, health and environmental performance.
The services are strengthening resilience for United Utilities' seven million customers and underpinning the company's Big North West upgrade and its £13.5bn AMP8 (2025–2030) investment in regional water and wastewater infrastructure.
