Work Commences on New 60-Bedroom Care Home Development in Crowthorne

Construction News Image

Construction has officially commenced on a new purpose-built care facility for Barchester Healthcare located on Lower Wokingham Road in Crowthorne. The development milestone was marked by a ground-breaking event attended by representatives from Barchester Healthcare, Kori Construction, Holden & Lee, Harris Irwin Architects, and members of the wider project team.

Designed to deliver high-quality accommodation for older people, the 60-bedroom home aims to establish a welcoming and comfortable environment supporting the wellbeing, independence, and overall quality of life for its residents.

Upon completion, the facility will feature spacious en-suite bedrooms, dedicated dining and day facilities, a range of communal spaces for socialising and activities, and landscaped gardens intended to allow residents to enjoy outdoor spaces safely and comfortably.

The official ceremony brought together key stakeholders to mark the start of building works on what will become an important resource for the local area. The scheme expands Kori Construction's growing portfolio of specialist care developments while continuing its established partnership with Barchester Healthcare.

Steve Culbert, Founder of Kori Construction, attended the site to celebrate the event: "Breaking ground at Crowthorne marks another exciting milestone in our continued partnership with Barchester Healthcare. We are proud to be delivering another purpose-built care home that will provide outstanding facilities for residents and support the growing need for high-quality care accommodation.

"The ground-breaking ceremony was a great opportunity to celebrate the start of the project with everyone involved, and we look forward to working closely with Barchester Healthcare and our project partners throughout the build to create a first-class home for the Crowthorne community."

In addition to the physical building works, the scheme is set to deliver local benefits through Kori Construction's Social Value Action Plan. The contractor has committed to creating job opportunities, supporting local skills development, and collaborating with community organisations throughout the construction phase, aiming to deliver £2,206,219 in social and economic value to the Crowthorne area.

With construction now underway, the project is scheduled for completion in Winter 2027, when the facility will open to its first residents.
