£1m Water Mains Upgrade To Begin In North Newbald

Construction News Image

Yorkshire Water will shortly begin a £1m project to modernise North Newbald's clean water network, improving resilience and ensuring a more reliable supply for customers.

The scheme will replace more than 4.4km of clean water mains in the East Riding village, aiming to cut the risk of future bursts, low pressure and supply interruptions.

Delivery partner OCU Group is set to start work on Monday 27 July. A rolling road closure will operate on Beverley Road, from the junction with Stoneknowle Hill to the junction with Bushey Lane, until early September. Further work will also take place at Walkington Heads between Bushey Lane and Littlewood Farm.

Victoria Corbett, project manager at Yorkshire Water, said: "This is part of our largest ever investment programme of £8.3bn to strengthen infrastructure and improve services for our customers

She added: "Replacing old pipes, prone to bursts and leaks will lower the risk of issues in the future, which helps us to save water and reduces supply interruptions for our customers. We've worked closely with local highways to plan our rolling programme of work and keep disruption to a minimum."

The works are expected to take around six weeks to complete, and Yorkshire Water is keeping local residents updated as the project progresses.

She said: "Victoria continues: "OCU Group will be working as quickly as possible to compete these important upgrades in North Newbald and we would like to thank everyone in the area for their patience as we carry out this mains replacement work. We will also make sure that any restrictions are removed over the weekend of the Beverley half marathon."
