Moray Council has unanimously approved plans for 204 new homes from local housebuilder Springfield Properties at Elgin South Village.
Set on the southern edge of the town, the next phase combines private and affordable homes with commercial plots for local firms and spaces for community use.
The proposals span two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom properties and add further affordable options. With Springfield a key employer in Moray, the consent is expected to support jobs and training for local people and stimulate Elgin’s economy through opportunities for the supply chain.
Plans also include allotments, a play park, kickabout pitches and pockets of open green space throughout the site, as well as a linear park.
Springfield Managing Director (North), Dave Main said: "After two years of collaborative working with Moray Council, we’re pleased to have secured planning and are excited to get started on site to deliver the next phase of homes. This decision will support the local economy as the construction of these homes will generate continued work for local trades, business for suppliers and develop the next generation through the creation of apprentices.
"This approval has come at a great time for buyers too. We're introducing a collection of house styles we’ve not built in Elgin before so there will be more choice for those looking to buy.
"Now, with approval in place, we can finalise details ahead of releasing the homes for sale next week."
