Tenby railway station is set to move closer to full accessibility as Network Rail starts installing sections of a new pedestrian bridge as part of a major upgrade.
The scheme, funded through the Department for Transport's Access for All programme, will create step-free routes to both platforms, benefiting disabled passengers, people with reduced mobility, parents with pushchairs and all travellers.
To carry out the installation safely, short-term traffic and parking measures will be in place over the coming weeks.
The station car park has closed and is due to reopen at 7am on Saturday 11 July. In the meantime, passengers are asked to use nearby alternatives, including The Green on Lower Park Road (SA70 7NG), Salterns Car Park on Marsh Road (SA70 8DU), Sainsbury’s multi-storey on Upper Park Road (SA70 7LT) and the Seafront Car Park on Southcliffe Street (SA70 7EA).
Overnight road closures will also apply on Warren Street and Station Road between 21:00 and 05:00 from Saturday 4 July until Thursday 9 July. The roads will reopen each morning to minimise daytime disruption.
Resident permit holders can park free of charge on the top floor of Tenby Multi-Storey Car Park on Park Road during the bridge installation, provided a valid permit is clearly displayed.
A temporary pick-up and drop-off point will operate on the corner of Greenhill Avenue to assist access to the station during the works.
Throughout the project, Tenby station will remain open and trains will continue to run as normal.
