Plans Submitted For Blocks 9 And 10 In Romford Regeneration Project

Wates Residential has reached a key milestone in the regeneration of Waterloo and Queen Street in Romford, with Blocks 9 and 10 now submitted for planning following a public consultation on 29 July.

The submission, made jointly with Havering Council as a Section 73 and Reserved Matters application, forms part of a wider initiative to transform 12 estates across the borough, creating high-quality spaces for residents to thrive.

Blocks 9 and 10 will deliver more than 107 affordable homes, a new community space, and landscaped areas designed to reflect local priorities, including building height, balconies, and green space. Feedback from the consultation was overwhelmingly positive, with residents welcoming the open approach and the way their concerns were addressed.

Councillor Ray Morgon, Leader of Havering Council, said: "The first two blocks at Waterloo and Queen Street will provide much-needed housing for local people, a legacy we can all be proud of."

Paul Nicholls, Regional Managing Director for London at Wates Residential, added: "Reaching planning submission for Blocks 9 and 10 is a testament to the strength of our seven-year partnership with Havering Council.

"Together, we've worked closely with residents to shape proposals that reflect local priorities and deliver high-quality homes and public spaces.

"This milestone brings us one step closer to realising a shared vision for Waterloo and Queen Street and we're proud of the progress we’ve made through collaboration and community engagement."

The planning submission marks the final stage of resident engagement for this phase, with the Joint Venture aiming to deliver the project by late 2028.
