Octavius Wins £7.5m Dinan Way Improvement Project

Construction News Image
Octavius Infrastructure has secured its first project through the LOT 3 Gen 5 Framework with Devon County Council, taking on the £7.5 million Dinan Way improvement scheme in Exmouth.

The project involves constructing an 850-meter two-way carriageway, complete with two new roundabouts connecting Dinan Way, Hulham Road, and the A376 Exmouth Road. A key feature of the development is a new shared pedestrian and cycle path along the southern side of Dinan Way. This addition will provide pedestrians and cyclists in northeast Exmouth with direct access to the A376, bus stops, and future sustainable transport routes planned for the Wotton Valley area.

The scheme aims to improve connectivity, promote sustainable transportation, and enhance access for local residents and commuters. The Dinan Way improvements mark a significant step in developing infrastructure to support Exmouth's growing community and transport needs.

Octavius Delivery Director for Highways, Chris Hudson commented: "Our works will commence this December and are anticipated to be complete by December 2025. Once completed our works will divert traffic from Exmouth Town Centre and reduce congestion to residential areas such as Summer Lane. It will also improve sustainable travel options for local communities including safer and more accessible onward connectivity to the Exe Estuary Trail, a 26Km cycle route through beautiful villages along a wonderfully level route taking in RSPB reserves offering some of the best opportunities to view wildlife along the estuary."
