Harlington Station is set to receive a major infrastructure overhaul as Network Rail begins work on a new footbridge, replacing the station's decades-old structure in a £7.9 million upgrade aimed at improving passenger safety, accessibility and long-term reliability.

The new footbridge, designed to last 120 years, will mark a significant improvement over the ageing infrastructure it replaces, promising reduced maintenance needs and greater cost efficiency in the years ahead.

In addition to the footbridge replacement, the project will deliver a series of essential upgrades across the station. Platforms 2 and 3 will undergo resurfacing, with enhancements including the installation of new tactile paving and updated yellow safety lines to improve accessibility and visibility for all passengers.

Construction is set to begin on Monday 12 May, with completion scheduled for spring 2026. While the majority of work will take place during daytime hours, some night-time activity will be necessary in June when no train services are running.

As part of the project, the lower section of Harlington’s car park will be closed to accommodate construction equipment and site facilities. With the remaining parking expected to be in high demand, passengers are encouraged to consider using alternative stations such as Leagrave or Luton for more convenient parking options during the construction period.
