Willmott Dixon To Lead North Quay Regeneration In Great Yarmouth

Willmott Dixon has been selected by Great Yarmouth Borough Council as its development partner for the regeneration of the town's North Quay waterfront.

The £20 million transformation of the 10.5-acre site will see the creation of a vibrant mixed-use destination, incorporating leisure and retail facilities, residential properties, and revitalised public spaces. The scheme is designed to enhance the town's historical character while boosting economic growth, tourism, and community wellbeing.

With a clear focus on improving connectivity and accessibility, the redevelopment will reinforce North Quay's role as a key gateway to the town centre, particularly given its close proximity to Great Yarmouth's railway station.

Community involvement will play a central role in shaping the project. A comprehensive consultation and engagement process with local residents and stakeholders is planned for later this year, ahead of a formal planning application submission in early 2026.

Councillor Carl Smith, Leader of Great Yarmouth Borough Council, said: "We are hugely excited to be bringing forward the town’s most significant development opportunity in a generation. North Quay is a key site which will become a vibrant new destination and will further enhance the town’s already prosperous economic future. We owe it to our residents and all those who love Great Yarmouth to create a scheme which will live up to our inspiring and innovative history. We look forward to working with Willmott Dixon who share this vision."

The regeneration effort is supported by funding secured through the Government’s Levelling Up Fund. Last year, the council successfully obtained £20 million to support early preparation and land assembly for the North Quay site.
