Crauford Help Create Sculpture To Commemorate The Queens Jubilee

Craufurd were approached in early 2011 by the Windsor and Eton Society to help create a sculpture to commemorate the Queens jubilee. The Windsor and Eton society wanted to mark this occasion with a permanent memorial because of the Queens special Attachment to the town, so they created a competition for schools and youth groups to create a concept.

Carolin Basra aged 14 from Windsor girls school was judged to have made the most interesting suggestion, her idea was for a tribute consisting of 60 circles, to represent each year of the queens reign, to be placed between Waitrose and Daniels department store in the king Edward's court shopping centre, Windsor.

Craufurds manufactured a 1/6th scale Marquette to emulate Caroline's artwork and it was decided that the upper most sphere in fact would be a replicate "diamond" as the ultimate feature piece.

The stainless steel spheres are 230 diameter and are mirror polished they are attached to a 76mm stainless steel spiral tube which is satin polished.

The overall height of the sculpture is 4.65m tall when its granite plinth.

On the 9th October 2012 the sculpture was inaugurated by the queen, the Queen met dignitaries including the mayor, Andrew Melville the chairman of the diamond jubilee committee and also Craufurd's Barry Jezeph ( Managing director ) and Norman Stabler ( Engineer )as they Accompanied Her Majesty to view the tribute in more detail and to discussed its design and manufacture.
