Leeds College of Building Unveils New Brand And Website

Leeds College of Building (LCB) has launched a refreshed brand identity and a new website as it celebrates 65 years of delivering specialist education and training in the construction industry.

The rebrand follows an 18-month collaboration with branding agency Born Communication, aiming to better represent a diverse and inclusive construction workforce. The initiative involved extensive research and stakeholder engagement, leading to a complete overhaul of the College’s digital presence, visual identity, campaign materials, and signage.

The new website showcases real students in training or on site, highlighting modern career paths in construction. Improved navigation and a cleaner interface have been designed to make it easier for students, apprentices, and employers to engage with the College and explore opportunities.

Leeds College of Building, established in 1960, is the UK's only specialist further education college dedicated solely to construction and the built environment. Over the decades, it has trained more than 100,000 students and apprentices.

Lyndsey Priestley, Head of Marketing & Student Recruitment, said: "The UK construction sector employs over 2 million people across a vast range of trades and professions and contributes billions of pounds to the UK economy. We wanted Leeds College of Building to better reflect this diverse and exciting industry, so our rebrand represents a bold, new era in construction education. Our modern, forward-thinking identity still embodies our high standards, but with a renewed focus on innovation, inclusivity, and opportunity."

The brand refresh is aligned with the College's new strategic plan, which places greater emphasis on identity, inclusivity, and the vital role of construction in shaping careers and communities. The visual redesign is also intended to help attract new talent into a sector facing a significant workforce shortfall in the coming years.

With industry research forecasting a significant shortfall in skilled professionals by 2027, and with women and ethnic minority groups still under-represented, LCB’s new brand aims to challenge stereotypes and attract a wider, more diverse cohort into construction. The College already attracts apprentices from across the UK to train in specialist trades up to degree level.
