Engineering specialist MARCH has been appointed to United Utilities' Monitoring and Control Systems Integration framework, further strengthening its role in supporting vital water infrastructure projects across the North West.
The framework, which will initially run for five years with the potential to extend to ten, is valued at approximately £5 million annually. It focuses on the delivery of critical operational technology across both new and existing water and wastewater assets, aiming to boost network performance, security, and resilience.
MARCH will support the design, development, testing, commissioning, and optimisation of operational technology (OT) software. All work delivered under the agreement will align with United Utilities’ technical governance and engineering standards, helping the utility meet its strategic objectives.
This latest appointment builds on an established relationship between the two organisations. In 2023, MARCH secured a place on United Utilities’ Design and Build framework, which covers both the AMP7 and AMP8 investment periods.
Michael Thomas, Executive Director at MARCH, said: "We're pleased to continue our partnership with United Utilities. Our appointment to both frameworks enables us to deliver integrated solutions with greater efficiency. We understand these complex projects and are committed to providing secure, reliable systems that enhance operational performance while supporting environmental targets."
United Utilities is responsible for the regulated water and wastewater services across North West England, serving over 7 million people. The company’s current investment programme, AMP8, includes a £975 million upgrade initiative aimed at improving water quality for 1.4 million customers and safeguarding water supplies for more than 2 million.
With a growing focus on sustainability, United Utilities is investing heavily in digital systems and innovative technologies, including the Advanced WINEP rainwater management scheme, to meet long-term environmental and operational goals.
