Pupils Take On E.ON's Insulation Challenge

Pupils at St Mary's RC Primary School on Ford Green Road, Stoke, welcomed E.ON's Insulation Challenge when they took time out of the classroom to learn about energy efficiency.

Given the task of insulating playhouses, teams of Year Four, Five and Six pupils got creative with cotton wool, cardboard and polythene, with prizes awarded for the most creatively designed and well insulated houses.

This activity formed part of E.ON's Insulation Challenge, a fun educational workshop designed to help children understand the principle of insulation and how to conserve energy in and around the home.

Cath Wright, class teacher and eco leader at St Mary's, said: "We've had a great morning. The pupils thoroughly enjoyed the activities and now understand the role of insulation in keeping homes warm and not wasting energy. The Insulation Challenge has really got them thinking about energy."

Suzanne Doxey, Community Relations Manager at E.ON, said: "The children fully embraced the challenges we set them and all of the teams did an excellent job insulating their playhouses.

"Through interactive activities like this, children can learn essential lessons about insulation and energy efficiency. We hope they will share their learnings with their families, which may result in them making changes that could boost their energy efficiency, reduce their energy consumption and potentially save money on their bills."
