Liverpool City Council has appointed three new framework contractors for the City Centre Movement Strategy - North Midland Construction plc, D.Morgan plc and Galliford Try Infrastructure Ltd.
The three-year framework agreement will include contracts to upgrade and regenerate key city centre streets, including the Castle Street scheme, with work on both highways and public realm. The estimated total value of the framework over three years is £20 million.
Liverpool's City Centre Movement Strategy (CCMS) has been delivering improvements to roads and public spaces since its launch in 2003 with over £70 million invested in new pavements, squares and highways. The council's highways project team has won a number of awards for CCMS schemes, most recently a Landscape Institute Award in 2008 and a Constructing Excellence Award for the Built Environment in 2009.
Councillor Peter Millea, Liverpool City Council's Executive Member for Assets and Development, said: "We are very pleased to welcome the three new contractors onto our framework. We will continue to deliver excellent highway improvement schemes, on time and on budget, using quality materials, and we look forward to working with North Midland Construction plc, D Morgan plc and Galliford Try Infrastructure Ltd."
Work on the new schemes will begin in 2010 and further announcements about the schemes will be made when the schemes are sufficiently developed.
