Essar Energy Transition (EET), through its subsidiary EET Property Limited, has completed the acquisition of Thornton Science Park.
The 66-acre site includes purpose-built laboratories, industrial facilities, and office space, and is set to play a central role in EET's ambition to create one of Europe’s leading energy transition hubs. The acquisition supports the company’s wider goal of accelerating the UK’s energy transition, aligning with government green energy targets while driving the creation and retention of highly skilled jobs in the region.
Thornton Science Park will serve as a base for next-generation engineers, scientists, and innovators focused on pioneering new technologies such as low-carbon hydrogen production and industrial carbon capture. EET Hydrogen's flagship project will form a key part of these efforts.
Located within the Cheshire Science Corridor, which links Liverpool and Manchester, the science park will remain a vital regional asset. EET plans to establish the park as the UK headquarters for its portfolio of businesses, including EET Fuels, EET Hydrogen, Stanlow Terminals, EET Hydrogen Power and EET Retail.
