£3m Highways Investment Programme Near Completion

The final phase of a £3million investment programme in one of the county borough's busiest highways is near completion.

Work on the A4119 between Parc Eirin to the Trebanog link in Wales will begin on Monday 3 August and take three weeks to complete.

The latest stage of the refurbishment work, costing £550,000 and jointly funded by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council and the Welsh Assembly Government's Local Roads Maintenance Grant, is the last phase of work on the main highway which links the Rhondda to the M4 motorway.

The Council's contractor Morrisons Civil Engineering, will totally resurface the highway as part of the investment programme.

The Council's Cabinet Member for Transport and Customer Care Andrew Morgan said: "This is the third and final phase of the refurbishment programme of this major artery in the highways infrastructure of Rhondda Cynon Taf.

"The work, coupled with the Council’s ongoing major investment programme, displays our commitment to improve highways throughout the county borough on a regular basis."
