Permasteelisa To Lead Façade Overhaul At 60 Queen Victoria Street

Construction News Image

Permasteelisa Group has been appointed to deliver the façade refurbishment of 60 Queen Victoria Street in the City of London.

Working alongside Mace Construct, the team will remove the original envelope from the nine-storey building, refurbish and reinstall it, and design, manufacture and install new panels where required.

The extensive scope includes pre-patinated bronze panels, fixed glazing units, a stick system, angled unitised panels with sheetwork, terrace curtain walling, soffits, windows, doors and other remedial works.

The retrofit is intended to preserve the original architectural character while upgrading the asset to contemporary standards, with an emphasis on wellbeing and sustainability. The project is targeting BREEAM Outstanding and NABERS 4.5*.

Jalal Fitoury, the company's CEO for Europe, comments: "This is a significant refurbishment scheme right in the heart of the City.

"Circularity is central to our forward-looking strategy at Permasteelisa Group and has fast become central to our conversations with our customers.

"We're already working on a number of these types of schemes in London, one of which is an iconic 200m tall tower in Canary Wharf, one of Europe's largest workplace refurbishments."

Built in the late 1990s and designed by Peter Foggo, 60 Queen Victoria Street is noted for its striking façade featuring pre-patinated bronze and brise soleil screens. The refurbishment will deliver a reworked ground floor with an enlarged reception, a new co-working hub and a dedicated cycle entrance. Floorplates are being reconfigured to create 15,000 sqft of flexible space, opportunities for outdoor terraces on each floor, and a new timber rooftop pavilion.
