The next phase of construction on the Olympic Stadium has started as concrete supports are installed for the seating terraces.

The first of over 200 concrete supports for the lower bowl of seating have been lifted into place. The bowl will consist of permanent seating for 25,000 spectators.

Also on the Stadium site, concrete is being poured to create the concourse level which will be used by spectators to walk round and enter the venue.

The space created below the concourse will house back of house facilities such as athlete changing rooms and doping control.

The ODA's Olympic Stadium Project Sponsor, Ian Crockford said: "The Olympic Stadium has been designed to be different with the legacy ambitions driving how we construct the venue.

"The team is rising to the challenge and work is progressing on the ground at an impressive rate."

Work has begun to the west stand lift shafts, one of which is very nearly complete at second floor level.
