Jacobs has secured three new commissions with National Highways, strengthening its role in supporting the modernization, resilience and long-term performance of the UK’s strategic road network.

The appointments will see Jacobs deliver key asset renewal and project leadership services designed to improve reliability, safety and operational resilience for millions of road users.

Two of the commissions have been awarded through the National Highways Technical Assurance and Asset Management Framework, covering major asset renewal and resilience projects. These include the M32 Eastville Viaduct Stages 3–5 Detailed Design and the M5 Wynhol Viaduct Stages 1–2 Preliminary Design.

The M32 Eastville Viaduct carries motorway traffic into Bristol and provides an important commuter and freight connection between the city and the M4 and M5. Jacobs' detailed structural design and renewal planning work will support the extension of the viaduct’s operational life while helping reduce the risk of unexpected closures and disruption caused by reactive maintenance.

For the M5 Wynhol Viaduct, Jacobs will undertake preliminary design work to assess structural requirements and develop sustainable intervention options. The project will support the long-term resilience of one of the UK’s key north–south freight routes.

In addition to the asset management commissions, Jacobs has also been appointed to the Construction and Professional Management Services Lot 2 (Project Management Services Framework). The company will lead a multi-disciplinary team responsible for delivering a minimum of 15 schemes over the framework period.

The five-year appointment includes an initial three-year term with two potential one-year extensions. Through the framework, Jacobs will support National Highways in delivering strategically planned projects designed to provide measurable benefits for road users and local communities.
