Ruberoid Building Products' structural waterproofing system, Hyload, has been specified for the historic Allders Department Store building in Leeds.
Chosen for its high performance and longevity, Hyload DPC and Preformed Cloak units provide the waterproofing solution for the building's long awaited refurbishment.
Situated in Headrow, one of the oldest streets in Leeds, the ornate building was constructed in the 1930's. The building will be transformed into a mixed-use development with facilities fit for the 21st Century, whist retaining the building's character and heritage. Hyload's ability to withstand compressive loads made it the product of choice for this five-storey, 300,000 sq ft development.
Simon Cousins, Group Structural Waterproofing Manager at Ruberoid, said: "Everything on this project needs to be sensitive to the building's heritage, even down to the waterproofing. The reputation of Hyload DPC's make these products an obvious choice on projects like this because they can withstand the heavy loads of traditional building products, such as stone."
BBA Certification provides specifiers with the knowledge and assurance that all Hyload products are high performing and long lasting. Both tough and durable, Hyload Original DPC contains over 70% recycled materials and is renowned for reliability.
