Construction Begins On Bede Academy

Construction has started on site for the £38 million Bede Academy in Northumberland, on which Faithful+Gould has been carrying out the full range of cost consultancy services.

Building upon an already substantial national portfolio of high profile education projects, Faithful+Gould has reached the post contractual stage of the educational academy on behalf of The Emmanuel Schools Foundation.

Following an OJEU tendering procedure back in 2007, Faithful+Gould was selected from The Emmanuel Schools Foundation framework to carry out cost consultancy services on the prestigious Bede Academy in Blyth. This followed successful completion of the £22 million Kings Academy in Middlesbrough and £26 million Trinity Academy in Doncaster, both projects for The Emmanuel Schools Foundation.

Currently nearing completion on the Excelsior Academy, which will be one of the largest schools in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Ewan Peacock, Managing Surveyor at Faithful+Gould said: "Faithful+Gould has been involved in Bede Academy since inception. We carried out initial estimates, produced cost plans, agreed the budget with the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) and have managed the procurement process.

"Going forward during the construction phase of the works, Faithful+Gould's post contractual duties will see us continuing to manage the scheme's costs by producing monthly cost reports, cash flow forecasts and interim valuations as well as managing capital expenditure and providing advice on life cycle costs.

"We have a proven track record in the delivery of education schemes across the North East and Bede Academy is the latest addition to our project portfolio. We are proud to be working as a key member of a successful multi-discipline project team operating under an innovative partnering agreement providing our core cost consultancy services and also challenging ourselves and the other project team members to ensure our client achieves best value."
