Noise pollution is a common problem in apartments and Orion Homes was determined to ensure that its buyers would benefit from harmonious living.
ADM Systems, one of the leaders in air management, supplied 17 energy efficient heat recovery systems for the development, 'Wentworth Mews' based in Ackworth near Wakefield.
Andy Largent from Orion Homes explained: "Our developments are always built to the highest specification and although we knew the noise wasn't overbearing, we wanted to ensure that buyers could enjoy their new homes without any distractions. We decided to choose a heat recovery system because it offered the joint benefit of improving the thermal efficiency of the apartments, whilst also enabling buyers to enjoy a healthier living environment and reduced noise levels."
Heat recovery systems improve thermal performance of a dwelling because they can lose up to 40 per cent of their heat through opened windows, extractor fans and trickle ventilators.
ADM's system works by using heat generated within the home to pre-heat fresh air from the outside during winter, and pre-cool it during the summer, which is then released as fresh air back into the room.
Chris Marriott, Managing Director at ADM Systems, stated: "We are finding that many developers are realising the benefits of fitting a heat recovery system. They are a great way to meet the latest building regulations on thermal efficiency and ventilation in addition to providing acoustic and energy saving benefits."
