Knowsley Council has released the first images of a new play facility planned for Tower Hill Park in Kirkby, with work on site due to begin shortly.

Developed following a public consultation in September 2025, the scheme is scheduled to be open by the summer.

The project features two sizeable play zones, offering a range of swings, inclusive and sensory equipment, large slides and other dynamic pieces suitable for children from toddler age through to teenagers.

The park is being funded through S106 developer contributions alongside the new Pride in Place Playground Fund.

Cllr Shelley Powell, Cabinet Member for Communities & Neighbourhoods, commented: "The plans for a new park in Tower Hill have been under development for some time so it’s great that we can now visualise what will be delivered here. The community got really involved in the consultation and I hope that the final park reflects their ideas and will enable local children and young people to play safely in their local area."

Reflecting consultation feedback, the layout will include a junior play area and a fenced toddler space. Equipment has been chosen to provide fun, fresh and challenging experiences while retaining traditional favourites such as swings. There will be more demanding, dynamic apparatus for older children, and inclusive, accessible options for younger users and those with additional needs.

The Council is now procuring a contractor and commercial-grade play equipment that meets stringent safety standards, is robust enough for heavy use, and will be installed with appropriate safety surfacing.

The play area is expected to be completed by the summer.
