Hull City Council has formally begun the procurement process to appoint a lead development partner for its major Albion Square regeneration scheme, marking a significant milestone in the long-term transformation of the city centre site.
The council is inviting bidders through the YORtender portal to submit proposals setting out their vision for Albion Square, including a masterplan and financial appraisal that align with the council's objectives for the development.
The primary aim of the project is to transform the currently vacant but strategically located city centre site into a high-quality, mixed-use, residential-led development. The regeneration of Albion Square is also expected to play a key role in supporting Hull’s wider economic future, strengthening its appeal as a visitor destination and as a place to live, work and spend leisure time.
Hull City Council is seeking a lead development partner to take responsibility for delivering the scheme, working collaboratively with the council and other stakeholders. The successful partner will be expected to secure funding and resources, help bring forward a sustainable and ambitious vision for the site, and retain a long-term interest in its future.
Cllr Paul Drake-Davis, the council's portfolio holder for economic renewal, housing and organisational development, said: "The council is pleased to have reached the stage where it can formally accept tender bids for a lead development partner for Albion Square.
"I look forward to seeing the prospective partners bids as the council continues to push forward its ambitious city centre regeneration."
