Kier Property, in partnership with Test Valley Borough Council, has submitted a detailed planning application for Logistics City Andover, a four-unit industrial scheme totalling 452,000 sq ft on the Walworth Business Park.
This project represents the fourth and largest redevelopment scheme on the park since Kier Property and the council formed their joint venture in 2011. If approved, the development will offer large-scale units, including one of approximately 219,185 sq ft, and enhance the partnership's ability to meet tenant requirements with shorter pre-commencement timescales.
The revised planning application emphasises sustainability, incorporating various environmental and social initiatives to meet the growing demand for low-carbon, energy-efficient industrial spaces.
Key sustainability measures include:
• Targeting a minimum 'Very Good' BREEAM rating, with an ambition to achieve 'Excellent'.
• Integration of solar panels for sustainable energy generation.
• Installation of multiple EV charging points.
• Delivery of a minimum 10% net gain in biodiversity through offsite improvements and green infrastructure.
• Dedicated cycle storage and a new cycle path connecting the site to the adjacent village and town centre.
• Use of high-performance materials, insulation, and water-efficient technologies to minimise environmental impact and reduce operational carbon emissions.
The four units will comprise 31,695 sq ft, 63,005 sq ft, 138,540 sq ft, and 219,185 sq ft (GEA). They will feature high-quality institutional specifications, with building heights ranging from 10m to 15m eaves, and between 4 to 22 dock levellers per unit.
The site's location within the established Walworth Business Park offers excellent connectivity and access to amenities, making it an ideal setting for businesses looking to relocate or expand.
Leigh Thomas, Kier Property's Group managing director, said: "We are excited to continue our successful partnership with Test Valley Borough Council. The proposed scheme underpins our commitment to deliver high-quality sustainable new warehousing that meet the needs of businesses and the local community."
