Wates has announced the successful completion of Darwin House, a key milestone in its collaboration with Westminster City Council to deliver high-quality, affordable housing that enhances residents' lives.
Located within the Churchill Gardens Conservation Area, the development is being delivered in two phases, with Block A now complete. This phase provides 33 modern, self-contained one-bedroom apartments for residents over 60, along with a scheme manager’s unit. Many of the new residents are moving from the old Darwin House into homes twice the size of their previous accommodation, featuring communal facilities, social spaces, guest accommodation, and landscaped green areas.
An additional 13 homes have been allocated through Westminster City Council’s Local Lettings Plan, helping long-standing residents stay in their community while freeing up larger homes for families in need.
With Block A now complete, the next phase of the project will deliver 10 additional social rent homes, including eight four-bedroom houses, one three-bedroom home, and one one-bedroom apartment, providing much-needed family housing in Westminster.
