Kier Secures Role In Yorkshire Water's £850m AMP8 Framework

Construction News Image
Kier has been appointed to Yorkshire Water's £850 million Complex Non-Infrastructure Works Framework, which spans the capital investment programme AMP8 (2025–2030). The framework supports Yorkshire Water’s ambitious £8.3 billion AMP8 investment plan, its largest-ever environmental initiative approved by industry regulator Ofwat.

Under the framework, Kier will deliver civil engineering, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control, and automation (MEICA), as well as building works. These enhancements aim to strengthen Yorkshire Water’s clean water and wastewater networks across the region.

Kier's Water business unit, part of the company's Natural Resources, Nuclear & Networks division, will lead the delivery. The appointment builds on Kier’s successful collaboration with Yorkshire Water during AMP7, where the company completed major non-infrastructure projects, including:

• Sladen Water Treatment Works: A £16 million upgrade introducing advanced technologies such as a refurbished Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) system, an 8Ml/d Magnetic Ion Exchange (MIEX®) plant, and new sodium hypochlorite dosing, achieving compliance with updated Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI) standards.

• Keighley Marley Wastewater Treatment Works: A £18 million initiative under the Water Industry National Environment Programme (WINEP) to reduce phosphorus levels to 0.5mg/l. The project included installing dosing systems, upgrading sludge treatment facilities, and modernising infrastructure.
