CPCS recently announced that anyone with the retired A17D Telehandler (inc 360 slew) category who make any amendments to their card after 28th August will be downgraded to A17C Telehandler (exc 360 Slew), unless they complete the CPCS A77 Telehandler 360 Slew (A89) Transitional Assessment. You can read BAM Construction Training’s report of the update here.
After posting the details of this announcement on Facebook, BAM Construction Training were inundated with phone calls and messages from disgruntled operators demanding answers as to why CPCS had enforced a deadline for this transition to the new category. The company commented “We are gathering concerns and feedback from plant operators, industry providers and other parties affected by this recent announcement to ensure that CPCS understand the frustration and panic that this deadline for the transitional assessment is causing in the industry."
The CPCS training and testing centre based in Wokingham, Berkshire are one of the few CPCS training providers in the UK accredited to test for this new category. They recently announced an entire week of Transitional Assessments to the new A77 Telehandler 360 Slew category from Monday 16th July to Friday 20th July for a reduced rate of £500+vat. This price includes familiarisation training on the company’s new Magni RTH 6.30SH 360 Telehandler which will be used for each assessment. Places are limited to 3 per day and a quick sell out is anticipated for these courses.
