More than 50 new 'affordable' homes are to be built in the Bishop's Stortford area of Hertfordshire.
Clarion Housing Group has purchased 55 housing units from homebuilder Countryside at the St Michael's Hurst development.
The sales includes 22 'affordable' and Shared Ownership homes in the first phase of St Michael's Hurst, which comprises 90 apartments and houses in total.
A further 33 'affordable' and Shared Ownership homes will be in the proposed second phase of the development, which is still subject to planning approval. The first phase homes will become available in early 2018.
David Everett, Managing Director of Countryside's New Homes & Communities Central Division, said: "We are delighted to be returning to Bishops Stortford, delivering beautifully designed new homes surrounded by extensive landscaping, that will help link the development to its wider environment. The sale of these affordable housing units ensures that St Michael's Hurst will cater to the needs of a wide variety of people in the local area, both now and in the future."
Philip Browne, New Business and Partnerships Director at Clarion Housing Group, added: "At Clarion, we are committed to providing high quality affordable homes, and we are pleased to be working with Countryside to improve the range of affordable housing available in Bishops Stortford. St Michael's Hurst is in a fantastic location, and will inject a much-needed mix of affordable rented and Shared Ownership properties into the town."
