M Group Completes Queenstown Road Station Upgrade

M Group has completed a major improvement project at Queenstown Road Station in south-west London, delivering long-awaited upgrades including a new rear entrance designed to ease access for daily commuters.

Undertaken on behalf of developer Taylor Wimpey, the project involved significant engineering works carried out by M Group's specialist rail, access, and mechanical and electrical teams. The scheme was delivered on time and aimed to improve pedestrian flow through the station, particularly from Patcham Terrace.

The works included reducing ground levels in the rear courtyards, rerouting drainage systems, and constructing a reinforced concrete slab and steps connecting Patcham Terrace to the station's new courtyard level. A new doorway was created at the rear of the station foyer to form the new entrance.

Additional improvements included the reallocation of the station's electrical distribution board, the installation of new CCTV to boost security, the removal of an existing water closet, and modifications to improve accessibility in an existing facility.

As part of its commitment to community engagement, M Group partnered with Thrive Battersea, a charity that uses gardening to support people with disabilities, on several local enhancements. These included installing fence posts and panels, donated by supply chain partner Woodbridge Civil Engineering, installing a new bicycle rack to encourage active travel, and de-weeding the site.

William Carter, Commercial Manager at M Group Rail & Aviation, said: "This project showcases what can be achieved when we collaborate, both with our client and supply chain but also within our capability teams across M Group. We know that the second entrance to the station has been highly anticipated by the public and we hope that the improvements make the station a more enjoyable experience."
