Keepmoat has won an £8 million contract to build a new extra care housing scheme in Bristol.
The 60-flat scheme will be delivered on behalf of Bristol Charities and Orchard Housing Society, with work scheduled to begin in January 2017.
Plans include building a three-storey development on the site of the disused Bowmead Residential Care Home on Holloway Road, Stockwood. The care home is scheduled to be demolished in January next year.
The 60 new homes will include a mixture of one- and two-bedroom wheelchair accessible flats for rent. Other features include communal facilities such as a lounge, a dining area, salon, hobby room, garden and onsite care services.
Edward Rees, Regional Director at Keepmoat said: "We are thrilled to be working in partnership with Bristol Charities to create these much-needed new homes. This is a significant win for Keepmoat, and one that reinforces our commitment to the South West and our substantial growth plans for the region over the next few years."
Anne Anketell, Chief Executive of Bristol Charities, added: "Homes for Older People are a key part of what we do and our team is looking forward to working with Keepmoat to develop high quality Extra Care Housing to meet local need."
