A roofing company has been fined after an employee fell through a roof skylight and sustained serious injuries in Newcastle under Lyme.
Storm Roofing Services Limited, of Brindley Ford, Stoke on Trent, pleaded guilty to breaching Regulations 6(2) and 6(3) of the Work at Height Regulations 2005.
It was fined £14,000 with over £6,900 in costs.
Newcastle under Lyme Magistrates' Court heard how the 16-year-old employee was working for his uncle during summer vacation on 07 July 2014.
He accessed an unprotected roof and fell through the skylight at Northwood Lane in Clayton.
He suffered three cracked vertebrae as a result if the incident.
A Health and Safety Executive (HSE) investigation found that there was poor supervision and training.
