Persimmon Pledges New School If Housing Plans Are Approved

Persimmon Homes has pledged to deliver a new primary school if approval is granted for a housing development in Swansea.

It is understood the new primary school would be built in Kingsbridge, Gorseinon.

However, it will only be delivered if Councillors grant approval to Persimmon's proposed Bryngwyn Fields development north of Garden Village.

Plans include building 750 homes at the site over a seven year period, with the new school being provided during early phases of the development.

The facility would be located centrally within the development to allow easy access between both the existing and future residents of the area.

The house builder plans to promote the scheme via the emerging Local Development Plan and will also submit an outline planning application.

Huw Llewellyn, MD of Persimmon Homes West Wales, said: "There is a real need to ensure the future housing proposals across Swansea address the future education requirements in Swansea and this new state-of-the-art building would go a long way to addressing that.”

"This would be a high quality facility which would extend the provision of education in Kingsbridge."
