China is to invest in the multi-billion pound Hinkley Point C nuclear power point project which is expected to be given the go ahead.
President Xi is due to confirm his country's contribution to the project today, 21 October, which is expected to cover 30% of the total costs.
Contracts with UK firms will meet around 60% of construction costs for the station in Somerset.
EDF Energy is leading the £24bn project, with the site expected to be operational in 2025.
President Xi Jinping is due to confirm his country's investment in Hinkley Point at a UK-China business meeting with Prime Minister David Cameron today.
Scott Cooper-Groom, Strategic Relationships Manager at CITB, said: "Today's announcement around Hinkley Point C is another positive step forward – particularly because more than 60% of the building work within this major infrastructure project will be placed with UK firms."
