The joint venture between Mott MacDonald and Grontmij (MMG JV) has announced the acquisition of two technology work orders.
The MMG JV was appointed the orders through Lot 1 of Highway England's Professional Services Framework.
The JV will provide feasibility studies to identify potential technology improvements on selected routes in Yorkshire and Humberside.
Investigation and preliminary design works will be undertaken on Ouse Bridge, junctions four and five of the M180 and junctions 32 to 35 of the M62.
It is understood the JV will examine possible technology improvements for the A63/A1033 through and around Hull, the A64 around York and the South Humber Bank network of the M180 and A180.
The feasibility work is expected to be completed by the end of 2015.
Mott MacDonald's Director of Transport Technology, Nail Abou-Rahme, said: "The key to these studies will be to understand the network and its constraints.
"A number of options will be identified and developed into preliminary designs.
"Highways England will then decide whether to take them forward into detailed design."
The government's road network company is in the process of prioritising asset renewals and improvements over the next five years.
