Sections of the building have been operational since late-March, following a hand-over by main contractor Integrated Health Projects; a joint venture between VINCI Construction UK and Sir Robert McAlpine.
Located at the rear of the existing hospital, the £13m building provides overnight facilities for relatives, as well as a new endoscopy unit at ground level and a critical care unit on the first floor.

Peter Dodd, Project Manager for IHP, said: "We are delighted to have worked with the trust and to bring their vision to life. The building's layout was based on the professional experience of end-users, with more than 200 staff providing input into the final design.
