An 18-month extension project has been completed at the Countess of Chester Hospital.
Sections of the building have been operational since late-March, following a hand-over by main contractor Integrated Health Projects; a joint venture between VINCI Construction UK and Sir Robert McAlpine.
Located at the rear of the existing hospital, the £13m building provides overnight facilities for relatives, as well as a new endoscopy unit at ground level and a critical care unit on the first floor.
Peter Dodd, Project Manager for IHP, said: "We are delighted to have worked with the trust and to bring their vision to life. The expanded space will provide a modern and comfortable environment, which will help assist in patient recovery. This is a major step forward in the provision of quality healthcare, and we hope to work with the trust in the future."
The building's layout was based on the professional experience of end-users, with more than 200 staff providing input into the final design.
