The Highland Council has appointed Kier Construction to deliver the third and final project in its programme of new primary schools for the Fort William area.

The £14.6m project involves the demolition of the existing Caol Primary School and Caol Community Centre building and the construction of two brand new buildings.

The first building is a joint campus that will accommodate an eight-classroom school to replace Caol Primary School, as well as a six-classroom school combining the existing Fort William and Lochyside Roman Catholic Primary Schools.

Both schools will also have nursery classrooms and an internal street to link the schools together.

The second building will house a brand new community centre along with Caol library, Caol youth centre and Room 13 youth café.

As part of the project, Kier Construction will also build a new state-of-the-art energy centre to provide heating to these facilities, together with a new car park and multi-use games area.
