Lovell has been selected by Monmouthshire Housing Association for a £3.27m scheme to redevelop a Monmouth sheltered housing complex with brand-new sheltered housing apartments and 12 houses for sale.
The scheme will see the outdated Trevor Bowen Court sheltered housing block in Wonastow Road replaced with a modern development featuring 20 self-contained apartments built to modern energy-efficiency standards. Lovell will also build 12 two- and three-bedroom houses at the site which will be for open market sale by Monmouthshire Housing Association.
Former residents of Trevor Bowen Court and local people have been closely consulted and involved in the redevelopment programme, designed by the Willdig Lammie Partnership architectural practice, for the 1970s-built sheltered housing scheme.
All of the new housing will exceed Level 3 of the Code for Sustainable Homes, the system which measures the energy-efficiency of new-build properties.
Work is set to start in early 2014 on the year-long construction project which was awarded to Lovell through a competitive tendering process.
