Construction work is officially under way on a new Devon & Cornwall Housing (DCH) scheme in the Devon village of Malborough in the South Hams.
The £2.2 million development at Alston Gate which will also include a 2-acre biodiversity orchard on adjacent land will see 17 new homes created for affordable rent, shared ownership and open-market sale.
Richard Connolly Group Development Director DCH said: "DCH are delighted to be delivering such an important rural project for the village of Malborough and look forward to the first residents moving into their new homes in 2014. The project is particularly exciting for DCH as it is one of the first projects in Devon where we will be selling our own open-market homes to deliver a wider range of new housing opportunities."
The scheme has benefited from some great local partnership working including local farmer and landowner Scott Rossiter, who has worked alongside local business Andrew Lethbridge Architects to design the scheme.
