Kier Introduces The Mobile Elevated Working Platform

Kier North Tyneside has introduced a new member to its repairs team in a bid to carry out works quicker and safer while also saving money.

The Mobile Elevated Working Platform (MEWP) has already saved the company more than £6,000 and 100 man-hours while receiving some great feedback from customers.

The MEWP, which has been in use since June, has been used in place of scaffolding for smaller jobs and for those that are difficult to access. The reduced use of scaffolding saves time and carries less risk for staff carrying out repairs.

One resident, who has benefited from the quick response time of the MEWP, said: "I was over the moon with the team and their new piece of equipment. They were very professional and kept me informed of everything that was happening on the day. They left the property so clean and tidy - it was like they were never here!"

Kier Regional Director, Mike Furze, said: "We constantly strive to find new ways to improve the service we provide to local residents for their homes. We are proud to receive such positive feedback about the MEWP and the wider working at height team. We will continue to make improvements to our service to ensure the work we carry out is safe and cost effective."
