Work has begun on the construction of a new £9.9m Extra Care facility in Coneygree Road, Peterborough.
To celebrate the start of the brickwork, Kier organised a ceremony on 20 November, inviting client Cross Keys Homes' director of operations, Claire Higgins, and head of development Ian Richardson, to lay the very first bricks under the watchful eye of Kier operations director Nick Bache.
Cross Keys Homes appointed Kier to build the facility, called Roman & Saxon Court, in acknowledgement that the contractor’s local experience and skills were needed to expand its own field of operation.
The new scheme will consist of 79 Extra Care units for elderly residents. Internally, it includes several lounges, a laundry room and a restaurant, while externally the gardens are designed to provide peace and quiet.
The project is expected to complete in May 2014.
