A well-used footpath in Dronfield is being resurfaced by Derbyshire County Council.
Work to repair a 300m stretch of path between Stonelow Road and Callywhite Lane has started.
The path is a popular route to Cliffe Park and and the industrial estate on Callywhite Lane.
Councillor Sue Allsop, Derbyshire County Council's cabinet support member for highways and transport, said: "Improving roads and pavements is one of our top priorities.
"Local people asked us to repair this popular route and we listened."
The repairs are expected to cost around £19,000 and should be complete by 10 August.
