Housing, Regeneration and Heritage Minister Huw Lewis today visited the Llangollen International Eisteddfod where he watched the Folk Song & Dance competitions, and met some of the volunteers whose contributions make the Eisteddfod possible.
The Minister took a tour of the Eisteddfod site, including visits to the International Pavilion, which benefitted from £1m of Welsh Government for its 2009 refurbishment, and the outside field stages to watch folk groups from all four corners of the World perform.
The Minister said: "The Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod is a wonderful example of inclusivity and multi-culturalism with so many different nationalities mingling in their traditional costumes and so many languages spoken around the field.
"It is also a marvellous opportunity for us to welcome the world to Wales and for us promote such a positive image of Wales on the international stage. It makes a significant contribution to the local economy, and I am delighted to be here."
