Civic dignitaries and transport officials from Denbighshire County Council have officially announced the opening of the new bus station at Rhyl.
The completed £3.7 million project was constructed by Welsh building & civil engineering contractor Dawnus Construction Limited.
The contract consisted of two active construction phases. Phase one improvements, required extensive improvements to this int egrated transport hub including the reconfiguration of the main bus terminal, existing car park entrance & taxi rank, enabling improved access to and from the rail and bus station. New lighting columns and information points were installed, the use of new natural stone paving & granite kerbing was used extensively throughout to enhance the project.
The second phase incorporated the re-alignment of the existing carriageways around the site, this section as before, required the introduction of new paving & kerbing, the re-surfacing of the existing carriageway and minor alterations to the existing surface water drainage systems.
The refurbishment, which is to a high specification, follows an extensive consultation process with bus users and interested parties and funding for the improvements came from the Welsh Assembly Government, Taith and Denbighshire County Council.
